A Brief History of Abehayat

In 1903 (1282 Hijri Shamsi), Haj Shokrallah Abehayat was born in Yazd, Iran. As was customary in those days, he began working as a teenager in a traditional workshop producing sesame and sesame-based products. After gaining experience, he established his own small, independent workshop in the Chaharsoogh neighborhood of Yazd. Following old traditions, he gradually introduced his sons into the trade.

After nearly half a century of dedication, Haj Shokrallah passed away, and his sons continued the family business. Among them, Haj Hossein Abehayat, who was in his early forties at the time, decided to pursue the trade independently. He founded a new workshop and continued the business with renewed determination.

Like his father, Haj Hossein introduced his own sons, Majid and Mohsen, into the profession. During the Iran-Iraq War, in 1984 (1363 H.S.), Mohsen attained martyrdom. Haj Hossein, with the help of his only remaining son Majid, continued to run the workshop. Just a few years later, in 1988 (1367 H.S.), after the loss of his brother, Majid experienced the sorrow of another loss — his father Haj Hossein passed away at the age of 59.

Majid Abehayat, with faith in God, carried on the legacy of his father and preserved the family business as a valuable heritage to this day. This industry has been passed down through three generations of the Abehayat family and continues to thrive. What once began as a small workshop has now grown into a major company known as Abehayat Gostar Yazd Food Industries. The company recently celebrated its centennial and looks toward a promising future.

Abehayat Gostar Yazd Food Industries has created employment for 80 individuals directly and over 200 indirectly, with plans to increase this number in line with its development programs. The company’s unwavering focus has always been on quality — not just as a slogan, but as a principle clearly demonstrated by a century of continued activity.

The Abehayat family’s strong reputation in the sesame industry and among its competitors is well-known. This reputation is the result of consistent product quality and customer focus over time.

The company currently holds health and production licenses for over 40 products, issued by the Food and Drug Administration and the National Standards Organization of Iran. Its product range includes various types of sesame (black, brown, white), tahini, flavored tahini, traditional halva, halva shekari (sugar halva), a variety of sesame oils (virgin, refined, tahini oil), herbal distillates, syrups, and sesame bars under the brand names Sam Sam and Fookapit. These products are produced in large volumes daily and distributed nationwide in a variety of packaging formats, reaching every corner of beloved Iran.
